GO SHOOTING

We no longer sponsor group meetings or other shooting events. Our simple reminder is to "go shooting." Most of our supporters shoot on their own schedules already, and we encourage that. We also encourage everyone to invite others or ask to be invited to shoot in pairs or small groups as they choose.

--RANGE VISITS AND OTHER SHOOTING EVENTS

One of our supporters is planning to host his own range visits and other shooting events for SSSU supporters and others. You may contact him at:

--CERTIFIED FIREARMS INSTRUCTORS

Two of our supporters are Utah registered instructors for the Utah Concealed Firearm Permit. They're always happy to include us in their ongoing CFP classes or offer personalized instruction. You may contact them at:

Tell them that you were referred by Stonewall Shooting Sports of Utah for class discounts which they might be offering. The class is usually four to five hours. Good luck, and let us know how your training turns out. The state-CFP application fee is $60.00 for Utah residents and $65.00 for nonresidents (Starting April 1, 2012, the fee will be $46.00 for Utah residents and $51.00 for nonresidents).

We welcome you to share this message with others and enjoy the weapon sports!

WE RECOMMEND JOINING THE SECOND AMENDMENT FOUNDATION

The Second Amendment Foundation was one of the appellants of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case McDonald v. Chicago, 08-1521 (2009). The group is also the nation's oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal-action group focusing on the constitutional right and heritage to own and possess firearms. Founded with the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms lobbying group, the AmeriPAC American Political Action Committee, and the KeepAndBearArms.com daily news aggregator, the group has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters, and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control. The group has defended the right of gay citizens to keep and bears arms in many of its lawsuits, and publishes Second Amendment-related books, the online and print monthly TheGunMag magazine, the monthly Gottlieb-Tartaro Report newsletter, the bi-monthly Women & Guns magazine, and the periodic Journal on Firearms and Public Policy law review.

Today's SAF offers many reasons to join now.

SSSU publishes announced events which might interest our supporters and which protect the right of an individual to possess a concealed or unconcealed weapon including a firearm or knife.* Events which are produced at private properties may restrict such possession with written or verbal policies.

The events this month include:

Pride Softball League will host from April 15 through Aug. 19 its "2012 Season" at the Salt Lake City Parks Division Sunnyside Park at 1735 East Sunnyside Avenue (840 South), Salt Lake City, Utah 84108-0000.

SSSU advises its supporters therefore NOT to attend this event. Instead, complain to event producers about their rules, and attend the Pride Day 5K; the Dyke, Transgender and Interfaith Rallies and Marches; and the Utah Pride Parade events where state and federal laws protect the possession of weapons including firearms and knives by public spectators who are outside the leased festival areas.

SOME SSSU ACCOMPLISHMENTS

We are often asked what SSSU has accomplished. A summary of our work shows how we:

--Lobbied staffers of the Utah Department of Public Safety successfully in 2010 to repeal an unconstitutional administrative-rule restriction of the issuance of Utah Concealed Firearm Permits to citizens who were convicted of violating the state sodomy law.

--Helped lobby members of the Utah Senate successfully in 2008 against the confirmation of Utah 3rd District Court Judge Robert K. Hilder to serve as a member of the Utah Court of Appeals after he declared his opinion in 2003 that staffers of the University of Utah could prohibit the possession of firearms by citizens at the university.

--Lobbied staffers of the Salt Lake County Office of the District Attorney successfully in 2007 to repeal an illegal prohibition of the possession of firearms by citizens at the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City and the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy, Utah.

--Helped lobby members of the Utah Legislature successfully in 2007 for legislation which protects the possession of firearms by citizens at public schools and universities.

--Helped host a National Rifle Association of America Inc. exhibit in 2005 at the Utah Democratic Convention.

--Endorsed state and federal candidates for elected public offices since 2004 so that voters could make informed choices.

--Lobbied gay and lesbian members of the Utah Legislature since 2003 to enroll in Utah Concealed Firearm Permit classes which are offered to them by other groups.

--Lobbied members of the Utah Legislature since 2003 about every bill which would disproportionately affect gay Utahns and weapon owners.

--Welcomed more gay and transgender Utahns to the shooting sports since 2002 than any other gay and transgender weapon group worldwide.
